Continuing the goal to finish our addition, we’re living, hosting, and entertaining in it for a few months to get an idea of our furniture needs. We had a few necessities in the photo studio since summer which were obvious needs – TV, couch, area rug, those type of furniture items we saw and had to have immediately due to style or price point – but actually my rule is always style, so I’d say the pieces we currently have in the space checked both boxes, and had to – in order to justify taking up room in my precious photo studio.

So we’ve hung out in it, napped in the space, looked at it, and watched our lifestyle behavior to notice a few things we know we need. I think that’s one of the most important things for any homeowner, if it’s a new space, always give yourself time to live in it before assuming you need certain pieces – and don’t get frustrated if it’s not completely done once you move in – that’s not how decorating or making a house a home works!

The first, thing we realized we needed were a set of 2×3 rugs right in front of our French doors. We were already tracking in dirt from going in and out to the backyard garden area since this is our entrance now. We knew we were in need of a few rugs as an area that will allow us and guests to put on and take off shoes at the door.

I went back online to The Home Depot’s home decor and furniture section on the website to browse the rug options. I picked up many things during the construction phase including the toilet, bathroom hardware, door knobs, and paint and remembered they had a huge selection of furniture.

Last spring I partnered with The Home Depot for our patio space reveal which made such a huge improvement of our space! I moved the blue and white garden stool from outside in for a side table! The Home Depot offers free shipping for most orders over $45, and you can also buy and pick up in store. You can always count on everyday low pricing and excellent customer service – and there is a huge selection of furniture and rugs.

I bought two of these borders area rugs that’s fade-resistant (necessary as it faces south). I also loved the same rug with the blue edging, this was a contender as well. I also added this 8-bottle wood wine holder to put on a shelf we have in the kitchen – it is so handy and looks great!

I thought I’d share a few more of my favorite products I’ve found on the Home Depot’s decor site so you can shop the look I’m loving right now. If you ever find yourself overwhelmed, one of my favorite things about the Home Depot’s site is the styled rooms page and curated decorating looks featured on the site so if you gravitate toward a specific look such as the cottage stylemodernWest Palm Beach, or even a specific room like classic office, or classic craft room, there are ideas and link to products. It makes sorting through the tens of thousands of options that much easier.
