A sweet, final summer visit

Our guest room is going to be empty until fall – only because the heat kicks in and no one will want to come out and play.  We ended our guest tour with the sweetest company, who came down from Vegas.  I’ve known Alex since she was 17 and we were both interns at KNBC4 in Burbank, Calif.  She had one of those special scholarships while she was still in high school so she got to do a lot of cooler things than even us college interns were able to do!

First stop, LGO for lunch, and some gelato.  My first one was on the right, but then I saw the left one and changed my mind.  So Benjamin got the espresso, I got my mint chocolate chip – it has mint flakes in it.  Craving again now.

Alex did the whole television reporter career, very well in fact, and decided to go back to school, get a law degree, and became an attorney.

We went to church and turned on the patio lights from Target which turns on with a remote outlet.

It was time for a backyard BBQ!

We also had hot dogs for the little one.

I made mashed potatoes from scratch thanks to the recipe Brenna sent, and also my favorite the best mac and cheese I made from gruyere cheese from Martha Stewart.

The weather the next day was so perfect that I decided on Sunday to take them to Kierland Commons to walk around and do some crazy sale shopping (40% off some entire stores) and had never eaten at Zinc Bistro.  So let’s just get this French food started, shall we?

We sat in the back area when we discovered it.  So pretty!

Seriously one of the cutest, sweetest, genuine and best couples I know.  We really want them to move to the Valley, let’s start praying.

Mr. Wonderful and I also say that if we were to ever to become parents, we’d want a child like theirs.  They have done an impeccable job with their daughter through so much love and discipline and she loves the Lord which is just beautiful.

I ordered a steak salad, perfect portion and very light, no guilt on my tummy afterwards.

Old friends are the best, and traveling ones are the best too – I love that I’ve seen them about every year through the years.  From random trips to Vegas including WPPI, to when they lived in So Cal (we’re all originally from California), I am so thankful to have kept in touch, this is a couple you want in your life forever!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend my loves, any fun plans?  This weekend we are staying here and doing nothing, because then I am gone again for a trip to visit a girlfriend and off to the South of France!  I’ll be needing some packing tips and sharing some of mine – currently looking for a good sleppy time pill if you have any suggestions.

Also, check out Maleficent, we saw it last night and it was an incredible movie. I loved every minute, I was completely fascinated by it and I adore Angelina Jolie, what a gorgeous face she has. xx

Diana, Check out the packing folders from Eagle Creek and I just love any of the totes from Bagallini. They are well designed and made well. I have the Only Bag and it is great for travel. Happy trails!

    Diana,

Head to The Container Store for some great travel products and tips from the sales staff. I worked for the company for 10 years while in Dallas, Texas. The staff is well trained and excited to help make your travels organized and pleasant. Happy travels. Love your blog.

Hi Patti, I LOVE The Container Store! I used to place online orders and pick them up (to avoid over shopping and browsing while I was in the store). I also love buying travel gear, I’ll make some plans to swing by the one in North Scottsdale this week! Thanks :)
